AUSTINMER  I

Major rear additions, internal alterations, a new carport, detached shed & covered outdoor dining

Brief: The client wanted to extend their existing home further out to the backyard. And use every bit of existing floor area to its full potential. Provide the family of 5 with a larger kitchen and second living area. Remove the existing over-sized shed in the rear yard and make new carport with storage beside & forward of the existing house.

About: This was a single level home, a major renovation. The existing floor plan was re-worked to make use of every bit of space. A new large large kitchen, dining & living relocated from the front for house to the rear - so as to connect with the rear yard. A new roof over the rear addition allowed high cathedral ceilings to give the limited footprint a sense of space & light for the growing family. The existing living was converted into a separate tv room. A new main bathroom, main bedroom, ensuite, laundry & linen were replanned. In the rear yard a new storage shed & covered outdoor dining area was located to have optimum views to the Illawarra Escarpment. With new side entrance, outdoor shower & carport forward of the building line (reason why project needed a DA approval)

Site Constraints: Local Environmental Heritage item - a large Fig tree on adjoining site. Not a large site.
