New single dwelling & separate self contained guest area

This is home is situated in Mollymook, on the NSW south coast. The home is for a family of five, a mainly single level home, except for the large double car garage & workshop at street level and a self-contained guest area with private entry. The brief was for the home to capture the ocean views, with plenty of light and areas for kids to play, with a private home office. The sites constraints - harsh north-easterly winds. Large easterly windows enclose the home and give protection while still capturing the incredible views to the north-east, east & south-east. Outdoor dining areas needed to be protected from these winds, being located on the western side but still having views through the kitchen to the ocean. All the living areas, bedrooms, bathrooms, & home office are at the upper level. While on the ground floor is a large garage, workshop and guest space. The living, dining & master bedroom all have high exposed raftered ceilings, with timber tongue & groove ceiling lining. Highlight louvres along the northern side of the dining allow natural light & ventilation to come through into the centre of the space. There is playful loft above the tv room, a place for kids toys and playtime for the three children.

Site constraints: strong north easter winds in summer time.
