PORT KEMBLA

New single dwelling treading lightly on the earth

This project was built on the southern side of what is called 'Hill 60' which is an 'all sand' foundation, geographically unstable. But a site with absolutely breathtaking views over Kurrakwah Bay. Screw piling foundations were required to anchor footings into the site. Consulting with Geotechnical Engineers and a Structural Engineer to achieve a design that is well anchored while at the same time gently touching the fragile site, by using the existing footprint with elements that overhang the lower level. decks. The site benefits from an established Norfolk Pine, a beautiful landscape element to work with. The design provides beautiful light filled spaces, energy efficient glazing, entry level via a above ground walkway to the upstairs living. With bedrooms, main bathroom, ensuite & a snug downstairs. With a separate home office beside the entry, separated with large sliding doors. The design work & interior detailing was completed in collaboration with Hardline Projects.
