Brief: For a spacious family residence that offers simplicity & seamless transition to the beach, equipped with facilities for remote work.

A secure front yard to ensure a safe environment for children to ride their bikes while providing privacy from the busy road & a sense of exclusivity on arrival.

About: The existing first-floor layout, which included the kitchen, living area, entry, and two bedrooms, did not provide an optimal connection to the rear yard and pool. The proposed plan involved relocating the main living areas and the entry to the ground floor, with a new addition accommodating a large kitchen (including a walk-in pantry), a spacious dining area, and a sunken living room featuring a fireplace. The existing single garage was converted into a spacious laundry / mudroom, and surfboard storage room. A new entryway and staircase with a double-height space was proposed.

The first floor was remodelled to maintain the two existing bedrooms and bathroom, while adding a new and home office, an expansive master bedroom with a large ensuite and walk-through wardrobe.

The outdated pool was replaced with a simple modern design, complemented by a large covered outdoor eating area intended for hosting family and friends. The existing large shed was converted into a guest house with ensuite & kitchenette. Additionally, a new double carport, entry, and masonry fence were established in front of the building line, which required DA approval. The rest of the design was implemented under CDC regulations, allowing construction to commence without delays from council approvals.

Materials: soft bagged brickwork, hardwood columns in the outdoor spaces, latte poles as the outdoor ceilings linings, weatherboard cladding, dark metal roof, micro-cement  on floors & walls in the ensuite & powder room . New fibre glass swimming pool.
